Plant Swotcheroos for More Beautiful, Hardy Flower Gardens
Feb 21, 2026 11:00 AM

This eye-opening lecture will take the guesswork out of which perennials and flowering shrubs are the best choices, especially for more challenging growing conditions.  You simply cannot tell if a plant is a great performer year after year by looking at a pretty picture or attractively maintained inventory at garden centers.  For over 30 years I have trialed hundreds of plants.  I’m excited to share my results, as well as those of other reliable plant trials.  Some of the ‘winners’ may surprise you!  Plus I’ll feature outstanding alternatives to commonly grown plants that are heavy reseeders; short-lived; aggressive spreaders; disease or insect prone; native plants to replace exotics; and more.
This lecture is best suited for gardeners in hardiness Zones 3-8. $15.95 Fee
